Welcome To My Enid Blyton Page

Enid Blyton who was born in East Dulwich South London on the 11th August 1897, was probably the most successful British children's writer of her era.

Enid wrote an incredibly vast amount of children's books. Her books as I am sure we all know, came in for quite a lot of critism for being sexist and racist. I suppose it was hardly her fault, as in the Blyton era there was quite a lot of sexism and racism without people even realising it.

Blyton books that are in the shops to buy new today, have been slightly edited here and there. This is of course to remove these sexist and racist tones from the books, but the problem you find with newer versions of books is that they get edited for the modern day reader. I only like the Blyton books that were printed in her era, it gives the books a nostalgic cosy Blyton feel to them, as I'm sure true Blyton fans will know only too well.

The particular work of Blyton that interests me is the Famous Five series. I have managed to build up a nice little collection over the years. I also have a few full sets, a couple of which being in superb condition.

'Five Get Into Trouble', was the first of the Famous Five books that I ever read. It was this book that got me really interested in the wonderfully creative Enid Blyton.

I have built a Famous Five website that has a little bit of my views and other little snippets. The address is www.famousfive.org.uk
